Android Auto does not connect the phone: cable, settings or multimedia?
Problems with Android Auto often look like a multimedia malfunction, but the cause may be a cable, USB port, permission on the phone, an app, or the way the vehicle supports connectivity.
Try the correct data cable first
Some cables are only for charging or have damaged data lines. Use a shorter, high-quality cable, clean the ports, and try a different phone. If the second phone is working, the problem is more likely with the first device or its settings.
Check permissions and previous links
Your phone must grant access to data, contacts, and notifications. Sometimes it helps to delete the vehicle from the list of connected devices on the phone and delete the phone from the multimedia, then pairing it again from the beginning.
Wired and wireless connectivity are not the same thing.
The vehicle can only support Android Auto via a USB cable, although it has Bluetooth. Wireless support depends on the device, software, and market. Bluetooth alone doesn't mean that wireless Android Auto is available.
When to check activation?
If Android Auto or App-Connect does not appear at all, it is possible that the function is not activated or is not supported by the device. Send a photo of the menu, vehicle model and multimedia label. See also the guide App-Connect not working.
An overview of all related interventions is available on the page on the CarPlay and Android Auto activation.
