Auto navigation does not find maps or SD card: what to check?
A message that folders are not found does not always mean that only a new package of folders is needed. The cause may be the SD card, data format, license, software, or the reader itself in the multimedia unit.
Write down the correct message from the screen.
A photo of a message helps distinguish between missing folders, an invalid license, an unreadable card, and a communication problem. The version of the device is also important, as two visually similar systems can use completely different maps.
Do not format the original card without a copy
The original SD card may contain data related to the device or vehicle. Before any formatting, you should make a backup and make sure that the card is physically correct. Usually, copying folders from the Internet may not work and can delete useful data.
When do you need to update and when do you need to service?
If the device sees the existing maps properly, but the roads are out of date, a corresponding update is probably needed. If the card occasionally disappears, cannot be read, or the device restarts, the card, reader, and multimedia software should be checked.
